On the morning of December 1, the opening ceremony of The Fifth Chinese Tea Olympic Games was held in Longwu Tea-town • Jiujie. Zhang Zhongcan the vice secretary of municipal committee and president of Chinese Tea Olympic Games and Zhang Genming the district committee secretary made a speech respectively. Participants included Shi Yingli the director of Standing Committee of District People’s Congress, Ye Weiping CPPCC Chairman of West Lake District, Zhang Yueding, Chai Wenle, Miao Lingrong, Dong Qingyuan, Ding Qinghuai, and relevant responsible persons of the province, city and district.

        Zhang Zhongcan pointed out that this session of Chinese Tea Olympic Games upgraded the competition in all aspects based on the success of the previous four sessions. It highlighted five elements including technology, quality, humanity, vitality and fashion, and established the optimum platform for competing about tea skills, discussing tea art and displaying tea culture, mainly reflected in five aspects. First, the idea of “internet +” was integrated into tea art contest for data analysis and intelligent use. We tried to present a technical session of tea game involving online and offline interaction and application of intelligent elements. Second, the warm connection between profession and popularity was realized via the opportunity of this session Chinese Tea Olympic Games, and we tried to present a high-quality session of tea game containing good health, richness, beauty and tea aroma. Third, the tea industry, tea products and tea activities were endowed with more connotations, and it became a common sense that tea is the national drink and Hangzhou is the capital of tea. We tried to present a humanistic session of tea game containing thick culture and elegant taste. Fourth, we made tea culture approach common consumers through a series of competitions, and tried to present an energetic session of tea game involving athletics, interaction and sharing. Fifth, we took innovative measures to make tea knowledge dissemination, tea beverage innovation, tea set design and tea culture promotion more fashionable, and tried to present a fashionable session of tea game following the tendency and leading the trend.

        Zhang Zhongcan expressed that Hangzhou would try to hold never-ending tea expo, fenceless tea expo, and the most important and classic “Olympic Games of Tea Industry” in China. We would gather Longjing tea, Chinese tea and world tea together, and realize “tea drinking, tea tasting, tea eating, tea using, tea playing and tea career”, so as to keep the tea warm, unite all people, and retain the passion of tea Olympic games.

        Zhang Genming first extended a warm welcome to all honored guests attending the opening ceremony on behalf of the District Committee and District Government, and showed gratitude to various leaders and friends from all sectors who always supported the development of our district. He pointed out that the Fifth Chinese Tea Olympic Games was another grand meeting of the industry held in Hangzhou since China International Tea Expo was held on May 18, as well as the first international large-scale event held in Longwu Tea-town after its new appearance.

        Zhang Genming expressed that Longwu Tea-town was selected as the permanent site of Chinese Tea Olympic Games, which not only reflected the deep love of the central, provincial and municipal party committees and governments for our district, but also fully displayed our abundant deposits in tea industry and tea culture. This was reflected in three aspects. First, it was the tea aroma. Longwu Tea-town has always been known as the “hometown of tea and tea town with a history of one thousand years”, and is the origin and main producing area of Longjing tea. At present, this region gathered nearly a hundred talents including non-transmissible experts of stir-frying skill and fried tea masters of Longjing tea. Second, this tea town was fascinating. Longwu Tea-town always persisted in the objective of creating “China’s Best Tea Town of 5A Scenic Area Standard”, and was evaluated as the First Batch of Characteristic Towns in Zhejiang Province, Provincial Model of Small-town Renovation in Zhejiang Province, Top Ten Exquisite Tourism Routes of Tea Regions in China, and the Most Beautiful Tea Town of China successively. Third, this grand meeting was worth expecting. As an important part of tea industry transformation and upgrading under “the Belt and Road Initiative”, Chinese Tea Olympic Games was an important window and platform to display Chinese tea and tea culture. Our district would full express the ecologic dominance of tea gardens in Longwu Tea-town by grasping this opportunity of Chinese Tea Olympic Games, and turn it into a characteristic town of full industry chain.

        Yesterday afternoon, the Fifth Chinese Tea Olympic Games ended successfully. According to the statistics of the organizing committee, there are more than 2,000 participants and more than 1,500 competitors.
