In order to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, Xihu District held the flag-raising ceremony in front of the office complex of the district on the morning of October 1. Secretary Zhang Genming of District Committee made a speech. Gao Guofei (Vice Secretary of District Committee and District Mayor) presided over the ceremony. Leaders including Shi Yingli (Director of NPC Standing Committee of Xihu District), Ye Weiping (CPPCC Chairman of Xihu District) and Ye Ze (Vice Secretary of District Committee) were present.

At about 9:00, the flag-raising ceremony was started. The flag guard escorted the bright red national flag and strode towards the flag tower with determined steps. In the majestic national anthem, the Five-Starred Red Flag rose up slowly, and all people present saluted the national flag with eyes solemnly, so as to express their love for the great motherland, and offer up the most devout respect and blessing to the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Zhang Genming pointed out that all government officers of the district gathered here to hold the national flag raising ceremony and to jointly celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China. All comrades present here were filled with excitement and pride.

Zhang Genming said that Chairman Mao solemnly proclaimed the founding of the People’s Republic of China to the whole world in the Tiananmen Gate Tower on October 1 70 years ago. The birth of the new China thoroughly abolished all unequal treaties and privileges of the big powers in China, terminated the governance of the exploiting class existing for thousands of years in China, rewrote China’s humiliating history of enduring impoverishment and long-standing debility and of allowing itself to be trampled upon since the Opium War, and reversed Chinese people’s tragic fate of being enslaved and oppressed. Chinese people have stood up since then, and become the real owner of the country.

Zhang Genming expressed that Chinese Communist Party had led people of all nationalities to make the country prosperous through hard work and plain living during the 70 years. In the 70 years, our comprehensive national power has been increased continuously, people’s life has been improved gradually, and China has entered the front row in the world. Chinese nation has realized the great leap from standing up to getting rich and strong.

Zhang Genming stated that the history was an eloquent proof that Chinese Communist Party was the creator of new China and the leader of national rejuvenation. Only by firmly sticking to the leadership of Chinese Communist Party, can we realize the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation.

Zhang Genming emphasized that the great achievements of 70 years were inspiring, and the magnificent blueprint of the new era pushed us ahead. We should deeply study Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China next, and lead all cadres and masses of the district to enhance “four consciousnesses”, consolidate “four self-confidences” and realize “two maintenances”. We must keep highly consistent with the Party Central Committee centering on Comrade Xi Jinping in thought, politics and action, stay true to the mission, keep the mission in mind, try to be realistic and pragmatic, and conduct real practice and solid work. Besides, we should forge ahead and strive for the first-rate quality. Party members and cadres of Xihu District should perform their responsibilities and undertakings to accelerate the creation of an all-round well-off, beautiful and happy district. Moreover, the people of Xihu District shall gather their mighty power to comprehensively create a moderately prosperous society, to strive for the great victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and to make unremitting efforts to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Later, all government officers walked to the conference room on the 7th floor, to watch the military parade of National Day.
